He's to the Southeast, in the house with a sign which has the image of a scroll on it. You'll get 'permission' from him.
The room shouldn't be empty, the only room that should be empty is the to the southwest. I don't know what would cause this bug to apear...
Are you sure that you've entered the right house? How did the screen look like?

has the scroll outside. inside, 2 beds and a shelf with liquids. also a poster about cooking and frying. could i have possibly done things in an incorrect order? the woman said to see the mayor after i found the water. i'd hate like hell to have to start over! please let me know a.s.a.p. thanx
Yep, that's the right house. And doing things in any order shouldn't affect where the mayor is. He should be there whatever you do. If you send me your savegame I might check out what's wrong...
Oh, and don't you think that e-mailing me, PMing me and posting on the board twice is a bit eh... overdone?

how do i send you my saved game? never done anything like that before, so please be specific. thanx
It depends on which slot you're using, if you're using the top most slot send me the file SAVE1.DAT. If you're using the second send me the file SAVE2.DAT, if you're using slot number 3 send me SAVE3.DAT etc. (The SAVEx.DAT can be found in the DMOD's main directory)
I could also modify a script or two for you to create the mayor if you like... Just say what you prefer.

i'm in the save#1 slot, butb i still don't know HOWto send it?
Go to the directory in which The Scourger is installed. In my case, it's C:\Program Files\Dink Smallwood\scourger. Find save1.dat (or save2.dat if you want to send Save 2, save3.dat for Save 3, etc.). Attach it to an email, and send it to metatarasal. Tada.
Yup, just send me the savegame like that.
But by the looks of things it probably ends up that I'll give you directions to change the script i2-crownnews.c (in the STORY folder of the DMOD) from this:
void talk(void)
{
freeze(1);
say_stop("`%From now on it is forbidden to fry any food",¤t_sprite);
wait(200);
say_stop("`%It's now only legal to cook",¤t_sprite);
wait(200);
sp_dir(1,2);
say_stop("They sure have a staple diet!",1);
unfreeze(1);
}
Into this:
void main(void)
{
int &pers = create_sprite(488,197,16,401,1);
sp_base_walk(&pers,400);
sp_speed(&pers,1);
sp_script(&pers,"p2-mayor");
}
void talk(void)
{
freeze(1);
say_stop("`%From now on it is forbidden to fry any food",¤t_sprite);
wait(200);
say_stop("`%It's now only legal to cook",¤t_sprite);
wait(200);
sp_dir(1,2);
say_stop("They sure have a staple diet!",1);
unfreeze(1);
}
But I think I could just send you the script as well, whatever's most comfortable.
I want to know where this bug comes from, there isn't any code influencing the presence of the mayor, so the MAP.DAT could be bad, in which case you (probably) had a bad download. (that's also why I'd like to see your savegame, if the bug doesn't occur to me then there's a good chance that the MAP.DAT is broken)

yes, please send me the script, and procedures for installing. thanx

hi, me again. can i just click and drag the script, and into which file would i put it?
"i2-crownnews.c (in the STORY folder of the DMOD)" (You can just open it in notepad)
please explain, i found the "i2-crownnews.c but how do i open to notepad (do i have notepad?) and then what? you have to realize that your dealing with a novice can you give me a step by step? man i must look like an idiot!!
Let's see... If you double-click on 'i2-crownnews.c'; Windows should ask you which program it should use. Just select notepad (or Microsoft Word) in the list, then click on the OK button, or; if it isn't in the list, click on the 'browse' or 'other' button and select notepad in C:\windows\ (and click on the OK button, of course)
You could also run notepad.exe in the windows folder, select File, then Open, and browse and select i2-crownnews.c in the STORY folder of The Scourger, then click on the OK button.
I hope this helps.

when i double click on "i2-crownnews.c a message comes up saying "THE DOCUMENTS FORMAT IS INVALID OR NOT SUPPORTED"
question. would it be possible to download the game again and then copypaste my gamesave data to the new game?
i give up! i dumped the game, reloaded, started from scratch, and there's Still no mayor. what are the odds of multiple bad downloads? if you've got anything that will help, please let me know before i really DO give up. thanx.
It may also be that the mayor is invisible, due to some bug which only occurs on some computers and only in some dmods. Try 'talking' (pressing spacebar) at different spots of the house as if there WAS someone. It may work. The mayor may also suddenly appear if you wait long enough.
EDIT : I think this bug sometimes occurs in Prophecy of the Ancients, for example.

That's a really weird bug, I don't know what could cause it, so I can't fix it. And if it is computerspecific, as you say then the bug might re-apear.
And Lance, I'll send you the script by e-mail.
And Lance, I'll send you the script by e-mail.
One of the things that makes the bug appear is if the person/monster is created by a script upon screen entrance instead of being a sprite created in the map editor. However, it may also occur even if the creature was created in the map editor; and in this case, I don't know how to fix it.
You might want to upgrade your game to version 1.07 if you haven't done that yet, lance.

It was made in the editor.
EDIT: I just realised, if the problem is common in sprites created by scripts, then the script I mailed lance wouldn't work either. (let's hope that will just work...)

Putting that in the script preloads the sequences the guy uses and he shouldn't disappear. If it is the prload problem he has... Sounds like it anyway.

can you email me this info as an attachment (Iknow how to do that)?
A preloading problem, sounds like a reasonable assumption.
No, I don't even have the dmod and I'm lazy. Bug metatarasal about it. ;P
.c files are just .txt files with a different extension though, so modifying them yourself should be fairly easy regardless of what OS you're using. Try renaming "p2-mayor.c" to "p2-mayor.txt", then double click it. Copy the preload stuff after the
void main(void)
{
lines. If there is no void main(void) in the script, just copy and paste the following in the very beginning:
void main()
{
preload_seq(401);
preload_seq(403);
preload_seq(405);
preload_seq(407);
preload_seq(409);
}
Then save the file, and rename it back to "p2-mayor.c"
