Where do you get fireball for burning down the trees from? I have looked in the town where you first start and then in the town below - though there are two houses I cannot enter in each town. Also, is there anyone to fix the broken bridge to the right of the first town you start in??
You need to do a couple other things first. Have you killed the giant eyeball in the castle and received the key yet? Once you do that you can open the gate under the stairs near the save machine. Next you have to get past the goblin and he takes a lot of hitpoints from you if he hits you. There's a bit more after that but I don't want to spoil it. Talk to the girl, explore the area, pick up some more potions and a gold heart. Hopefully this helps you get on the right path.

Hi,
Yes I have killed the eyeball and the goblin, got the key, used the teleport machine and gone to the desert, spoken to the lady who lost her daughter. I explored the desert, got the potions and then returned back to where I started from...but am stuck now as nothing seems to have changed. Perhaps I missed something, a small hint would be appreciated on what to do next and where I get fireball from...many thanks.

You need to find a way to get inside those walls in the desert area. There's something you need in the weapon shop there for starters. Take a good look at those walls. By the way, Although you will need fireball magic eventually, it's a bit of a letdown since there's no hidden stairways under any of those burnable trees. So unless there's something you missed hiding behind one it serves no real purpose to go around burning them other than the simple pleasure of burning trees.
