Hello, I was playing The Scourger and got to the part where I needed to get some water for Cooking Town. The mayor told me to find some, and I went to the cave with the crack to procure the water when suddenly the game froze with "Hey, there's some water inside of this crack!" (or something to that effect) over Dink's head inside of a dialogue box. It seems to keep happening, too.
I'm using the latest Dink Smallwood HD client to play, if that's relevant.

hmmm, it worked for me when I played through it, so it's not a scripting error, although I do remember it freezing once there. It only happened once though so I'm not really sure what's wrong when you do it.
A lot of Dmods don't work properly with 1.09.
"Shady stranger"? Sweet, I was kind of getting fed up with all the bugs people kept having with his ancestor.
How did you get the name of my new file on here instead of scourger - they still havent approved it lol
Edit: Dang scratcher you are speedy indeed lol

Curse the lack of a modify button for ghosts. What it really sounds like is a 1.?? Or whatever and the compatibility with the scouger because for some reason it's stubborn. I'm sure if you try it enough it would work once just remember to save right after.

I'm not sure how I got the filename on thereā¦ I didn't intend to.
I'll try fetching the water out of the crack a few more times and see if I get lucky. Thanks for the responses, guys.

I've never heard of that problem before. I haven't tested the DMOD for DinkHD, so I just don't know how well it works on it. Having said that, I can't replicate the bug on v1.08 nor on DinkHD... Unfortunately it's difficult to solve a bug if you can't replicate it. But this solution will make the DMOD work again:
Assuming you use DinkHD under windows do the following:
- Go to the directory where you installed DinkHD ('C:/Program Files/Dink Smallwood HD' or something close to that by default.)
- Go to the folder called 'dmods'.
- Go to the folder called 'scourger20'
- Go to the folder callde 'story'
- Open the file 's2-watercrack.c' using notepad
Now delete these two lines:
if (&story > 23)
sp_touch_damage(¤t_sprite,-1);
This will make sure Dink doesn't do anything anymore when you touch the crack. You don't really need to touch the crack to finish the DMOD anyway, it's just there to give an extra hint to the player.
EDIT: If you want to just give it a shot without editing anything. Try to just talk to the crack while keeping as much distance as possible.

It looks like I was able to get it working through persistence alone; I just used a lot of quick saves and it finally went through without freezing.
Thanks to everybody for the help.
